Dump Truck Crash Temporarily Shuts Down Route 50 In Virginia: Police

Route 50 was shut down for approximately an hour in Fairfax County on Monday morning when a dump truck driver crashed and took down some power lines.

At around 6 a.m. on Oct. 7, officers were called to assist at the scene of a single-vehicle crash on the usually-busy roadway near Fair Ridge Drive in Fair Lakes. 

The crash resulted in Route 50 being closed in both directions on Monday morning while crews made repairs, resulting in major delays and temporary traffic backups until the scene could be cleared.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
